Tennis Legend Says if Australia Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage 'There Will Be No Christmas'

Retired international tennis legend Margaret Court is now warning if her homeland of Australia allows same-sex couples to marry, it will be the end of holidays like Christmas, Easter, and Mother's and Father's Day.

Court, who became a Christian minister after retiring, in recent years has seen her support in Australia dwindle over her acerbic and extreme anti-gay views. Some have petitioned to have her name removed from Australia's Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne’s Olympic Park over her views, which include her threat to stop flying Qantas after its CEO announced support for marriage equality.

“I think it’s sad. You don’t have the freedom of speech today to really defend yourself,” Court, lamenting she had not been re-elected to a tennis club as a vice-patron, told The West Australian. “It’s a sad day for our nation when it comes to that.”

Court suggested gay people and same-sex couples should be happy with what they have, and even said says don't want the right to marry – rather, they want to destroy the institution.

“We already have 36,000 gay couples in this nation, that’s not a lot of people when you think about the 25 million. They already have civil union,” she said, not understanding that separate is not equal.

“They want marriage because they want to destroy it,” Court falsely claimed.

“It’s not about marriage. It will affect Christian schools, it will affect freedom of speech,” the 75-year old former star said. “There will be no Mother’s Day, there will be no Father’s Day, there will be no Easter, there will be no Christmas.”

Court has compared gay people to Hitler, and transgender people to to Devil.
