(2,307 posts)I would say that is unbelievable, but I have heard of similar things before. Hardly following Christ's example of love.
I can understand how a religious persons may interpret the bible to feel homosexuality is wrong. That is their right.
What bothers me is when they want to force their beliefs on other and especially when they use violence to "follow" the bible.
That minister and the deacons should be treated as a common criminal, no different than any other person charged with assault. But, to often the police and courts seem to favor the person who committed the assault. I have even heard of situations where the gay persons "deserved" what they got for flaunting their disgusting life style. Similar to the idea that a woman deserved to be raped because of the way she was dressed. It will be interesting how the court will rule when it comes to trial.
For some people gay's not only do not deserve the right to marry, but to interact in society.
I guess the hate which this minister preaches each week would give Hitler's speeches a run for their money.

(118,282 posts)a certain Jerry Pittman, his estrangement from his wife Diana Pittman, and his arrest for theft from the business of Diana Pittman. Jerry Pittman's gay son (Jerry Pittman Jr) and the son's boyfriend seem to have chosen to visit dear old Dad, just as he returned from detention on theft charges
DUers will be surprised (I am sure) to learn that the train here jumps the track and heads down into the gorge
Jr and boyfriend reported Dad and cronies attacked them. Counterclaim was Jr and boyfriend started it. A few days later, one of the cronies said he was attacked at home by a masked pair, and another crony's house seems to have been an arson target
My own reaction: I know nothing about this except what I read in the newspapers. I do not know any of the people involved; I do not attend that church; and I never ever even heard of any of them until today. I have no idea whether or not there is a general moral lesson here, but if there is, I suspect it might be something like: "You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning"
