Vatican Arrests Monsignor on Suspicion of Possessing Child Pornography

VATICAN CITY — A monsignor who had been recalled to the Vatican as a diplomat in the Holy See’s Washington Embassy was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of possessing child pornography in the United States and Canada.

Msgr. Carlo Alberto Capella was arrested by the Vatican police on a warrant issued by the Holy See’s chief magistrate, the Vatican said in a statement.

Monsignor Capella, who was recalled from the Vatican Embassy in August, was arrested according to articles of a 2013 law signed by Pope Francis. The articles cited by the statement related to child pornography.

If indicted, the monsignor will have to stand trial in the Vatican and face up to 12 years in prison on conviction.

Pedophiles are attracted to positions where they can interact with children. Churches are particularly susceptible because many, if not most religionists feel that morality is inherent to association with the church and particularly so with those in leadership positions. This effect is exaggerated in the RCC because they institutionally view high ranking church officials as conduits to the almighty. If you think about it, if you're a pedophile, what better place to be than someplace where parents aren't going to be suspicious of you? Not only that, if you get caught you can virtually be assured you'll have no shortage of people, including the institution itself, shielding you from law enforcement.

Not being able to have sex probably makes one have unusual tastes in sex. It’s just not natural. I knew a guy who grew up in a deeply religious family, he was biologically gay, used to hang around us girls and was a pretty boy. Favored alter boy as I remember. He joined the priesthood and got kicked out after being discovered in a gay relationship.

The Catholic Church is a dying religion unless they let priests marry and allow women to become priests.

of the RCC. Their losses in Europe and to a lesser extent in North America have been more than made up by gains in Africa and South America.

are attracted to the priesthood specifically because of the vow of chastity thing, hoping that either God will cure them of their urges, or will at least help them to resist acting upon them.
