1. Metaphor is what apologists call what was literal, but is no longer tenable as such

When science makes stories of talking donkeys no longer believable, the answer is just move the goalposts and claim that's not what the original authors meant as if they have any way of knowing that. At some point it's just an ever increasing sphere of lies covering for other lies.

2. You seem confused about the 2 words.

Metaphor refers to a non-literal description.

You are welcome.

3. No shit, Captain Obvious

Were you not so quick to offer a condescending reply you might have read what I wrote and saved yourself the embarrassment of repeating it while pretending otherwise.

9. What you wrote was a generic bash Christians response.

Focused on a strictly literal interpretation of the Bible.

And requiring one to ignore any suggestions that actual Christians are not all literalists. But that works against the preferred meme.

11. Now you return to your dialogue.

I am certain that you find this to be fascinating, or something.

I'm quite certain you'll continue.

13. How do yuo define your many silly gifs?

Secondary level?

I too am quite certain that you will continue with them, as well as the avoidance.

14. Entertainment

At least the intentional kind.

Meanwhile speaking of avoidance, 8 threads in and we are still waiting for you to explain what atheism has to do with China's intolerance. So far <crickets> and grammar school insults are all that's to be found. Very telling that.

15. So you admit that you have no interest in actual response?

Interesting.

Not the same thing at all really.

16. I'm fascinated by that woman's fleeting smile at the end of that clip.

And by the ASL sign for bullshit, which I find very clever, indeed.

18. Revealing.

So you feel that insult is superior to actual dialogue?

Or that insult is acceptable when the dialogue strays from the contstraints of the unnumbered Commandment?

Or are you inserting words in my posts again?

21. I said that I liked that ASL interpreter's smile at the end

of that video clip. I also said that I thought the ASL sign for "bullshit" was a good one.

I said nothing more than that. You attempted, once again, to add to my words. You're not very good at doing that, you know.

about condescending language?

Link?

I read a lot of posts here. A lot of them are by atheists.

27. I only posted once in that thread, as the first reply.

Then, I did not find anything else I felt deserved replies. So, I have no idea what you're talking about, really. You'll notice that I didn't contribute to it beyond that first reply.

5. On a related note, garlic has a 100% success rate preventing vampire attacks.

Prayer, OTOH, has failed to prevent multiple traffic accidents.

6. Suggest people keep their eyes open while they pray and drive.

It helps.

Never known prayer to be a given for a particular outcome. "Thy will be done" is often stated in prayer as an acknowledgement of a will greater than our own.

7. Lots of people pray for safe journeys for others, so open eyes won't always help.

And if your deity has such unknowable, unquestionable wisdom to commit horrors, isn't the very act of prayer both presumptuous and pointless?

8. When barking actually does work, only the foiled perp would know.

Which is why I pet my dog when he barks at something outside. We've not been brutally murdered countless times all thanks to Dog.
