Here's a musician from the States that immersed himself in India. He's gone all spiritual which makes him hard for me to take in large doses. I like the fusion of Indian and western music. There are plenty of videos of him online to check out.

Successfully blends Indian percussion into their music without sounding like awful "world" music. But their wishy-washy hippie-dippie spiritualism grates after a while, as well.
