• Now, the nuns have banned the bishop from their monastery and demanded he repent for his "abuse" of them.
• The bishop has responded by threatening to excommunicate the nun in charge.
A group of Texas nuns, who have been feuding with a local bishop for months after he accused one of breaking her chastity vows, have banned Bishop Michael Olson of the Fort Worth Diocese from their monastery and demanded he "repent" and apologize.
In an unusual public statement, the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Arlington said they no longer recognize the authority of Olson or the Fort Worth Diocese, and forbid any diocese officials from from entering the monastery property or interacting with its nuns.
"No one who abuses us, as has the current Bishop of Fort Worth, has any right to our cooperation or obedience," the statement said. "For our own spiritual and psychological safety, and in justice, we must remain independent of this Bishop until such time as he repents of the abuse to which he has subjected us."

A group of nuns in Texas has declared that they no longer recognize the authority of an embattled Fort Worth bishop, the latest twist in a saga that began when he accused one of their order of violating her vow of chastity.
In a statement, the Monastery of the Most Holy Trinity of the Discalced Carmelite Nuns alleged that, over the past four months, they had been “subjected to unprecedented interference, intimidation, aggression, private and public humiliation and spiritual manipulation” by Bishop Michael Olson.

The Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth said in response that it was aware of the “dangerously rebellious decision” by the nuns and called for prayers to stop the “open disobedience,” according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

They don't give up.
The discipline of that order is among the strictest in the Church. Their purpose is prayer, they are hermetic, they don't normally engage in any kind of controversy or worldly business beyond running retreats and spiritual seminars.
And while they have their own lines of authority within the Order and the Church, they tend to be very respectful of Church hierarchy and the higher levels of clergy.
It would take a LOT to get them to go this far.
But once they've gone, they ain't gonna go back.
This one could go clear up to the Pope.
And if he don't do them right, maybe to God.
If the Bish knows what's good for him, he'll opt early retirement ASAP.
