Answer: Oh, come on, you already KNOW the answer!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A former New Jersey Republican city chair has been arrested on multiple charges of using a hidden camera to videotape naked boys using communal showers at a Catholic high school.
Patrick Lott, the 54-year-old assistant principal at Bernardsville Middle School since 2009, is facing more than 50 counts including endangering the welfare of a child and invasion of privacy at Immaculata High School in Somerville, where he volunteered as a coach.
Investigators raided Lotts home about two weeks ago and seized computer files that included videos of naked male students in the shower. Nine or more of the students were under the age of 16, according to WABC.

(731 posts)just kidding of course.
What is it about Catholicism that produces this? I'm honestly asking, why are there so many homosexual pedophiles in Catholic institutions. It's something that needs to be dealt with AT IT'S CORE, no more treating the symptoms, the cause needs to be rooted out and destroyed.

Certainly, it has long been a problem in boarding schools, children's homes and orphanages.
After all, such schools and institutions are a paedophile's dream: plenty of children; with any luck, you can be in a position of power over them; they won't dare to disobey or inform on you, and may even think that you must be doing the right thing - after all you're the person in authority.
I don't think that Catholicism as a *religion* leads to increased paedophilia at all; but Catholic schools as *institutions* may be, or have been, more isolated/authoritarian/less subject to transparency and 'sunlight'. And teachers and priests who were accused of sexual abuse often get away with it: even when authorities were informed, the culprits were often not criminally prosecuted, or even sacked, but at most relocated to another institution of similar nature.
What has struck me is how often American Republicans seem to get caught in dubious and sometimes abusive sexual activities. I would guess the maths there is something like 'authoritarian attitudes + a morbid preoocupation with other people's sex lives often = something none too pretty'.

(2,261 posts)there are a few Americans of the Democratic Party who have been apprehended through the years, as well.
I think we see more Republicans engaging with children, in that kind of non-equal relationship. But then, one of the worst cases of all was John Wayne Gacey, not only a pedophile, but a child serial murderer as well. I'm pretty sure he was active in local Democratic Party politics, although never held an elective office.
Pedophilia does have that dynamic of inequality of status, man and young girl or boy. As we know, many pedophiles were heterosexual married men, who only engage sexually with young boys because of that dynamic of inequality, power over another human being, and simply that young boys are more apt to be found in the company of adult males, through sports, hobbies, scouts, etc., more than young girls are.
