A Movie About Noah’s Ark Has Been Delayed for the Best Reason Ever

Noah is the newest movie from director Darren Aronofsky. It’s slated for release in 2014 and looks to be a remake of 2007?s Evan Almighty. [Note: After some further painstaking research, I discovered that it is evidently based on some little-known story in the Bible known colloquially as "Noah's Ark." Amazing!] It also stars some big name celebrities like Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, and Emma Watson.

Unfortunately, filming has been delayed, and you’ll never guess why.

Or maybe you’ll guess it on your first try.

Flooding.

Yup. Hurricane Sandy, what one might describe as a “storm of biblical proportions,” has halted the production by flooding the filming location:

To make it as realistic as possible, the director built a massive ark, which measures 450 feet long, 75 feet tall and 45 feet wide. Unfortunately, it was never meant to be sailed. With production wrapping up within the next few weeks, the ark was forced to deal with flooding as Hurricane Sandy passed through Oyster Bay.

This is make believe and reality, don't see why it's so funny. Also, if Aronofsky is making it you can bet it will be an excellent film.

Side note, when they made the sharks for Jaws they only tested them in fresh water, so when they went to film with them they didn't work since the salt water rusted them out. This is why you only see the bouys when they're being chased by the shark and it made for a much scarier film. Spielberg has been quoted as saying it was much better this way and he wish that was how he had planned it.

based on a make believe story from a make believe book but not all fiction is great or makes for a good story.

and I don't really care about this not being "your standard biblical story" unless he is mocking the concept of the ark and the associated fictitious story. As I see it, it will be just more religious crap thrown down our throats with a pretty bow tied around it.

And for the record I did not really care for most of his works but that is just my opinion. Before you jump on my case for not liking his work it is just my "opinion" which should have no affect on anyone else.

And definitely not with a pretty bow on it! Just as Requiem for a Dream was not a melodramatic overcoming drug abuse story. It was - or at least included - an indictment of addiction to prescription drugs.

I love his films, he's one of my favorite directors, and a very thoughtful one with interesting methods. Although I thought The Wrestler was overrated and I didn't see The Fountain. Reminds me, must rent that and watch Pi again!

Apologies for anything I have said to make you think you are not entitled to your own opinion.

does have an interesting cast but I am skeptical, can't help myself on that level. I did not like the Black Swan but thought The Wrestler was just okay. On the other hand the casting for The Wrestler was well done. I did not find the story line as compelling considering the hype.

No apologies needed. People do have different opinions and I was just over expressing that point. My bad!

On edit: you may have caught me on a particularly bad day. My "Obama for President" sign was stolen last night. This is the second sign in my yard to disappear this election season. Same thing happened in 2008. SW Ohio sucks!

Something about okay, 2 lions, check. 2 Tigers, check. 2 sheep, check. 2 deer, check. Let's go! Hey... where did the sheep and the deer go???

His whole routine skewers denial of evolution and belief in god. I don't know if he's on tour with it yet, catch it if you can. I was fortunate enough to see him while he was working out the material at a small venue.

Emma Watson, one of the actresses on the film, pointed out the irony of flooding being the cause of problems for the production.
