Vatican removes deputy bishop in Peru after sex abuse allegations

LIMA | Fri Sep 20, 2013 7:01pm EDT

(Reuters) - The Vatican, under Pope Francis' "zero-tolerance" policy for pedophile priests, removed an auxiliary bishop from his post in a Peruvian province because of allegations he sexually abused children, a bishop said on Friday.

Luis Bambaren, the former president of Peru's bishops' conference and bishop emeritus of Chimbote, told local media that Gabino Miranda was dismissed as auxiliary bishop in the dioceses of Ayacucho, a poor Andean region in southern Peru, after he was accused of having sexual relations with minors.

"It is what the Pope said - zero tolerance," Bambaren said on RPP radio. "Those are very serious crimes, especially when it has to do with a bishop."

A Church official confirmed to Reuters that Miranda, 53, had resigned from Peru's bishops' conference but declined to say why.

I am glad this is happening. Hopefully this happens prospectively BUT

The vatican and all the pervert priests, bishops and cardinals in the hierarchy need to be terminated and an apology with restitution be given to all those molested over the years.

Francis has creaked open the door to married priests but slammed shut any opportunity for women priests. The bottom line is human beings are sexual and they have sexual needs that are in many ways no less important than the need for air, food, water and shelter. When you tell them that is all bad and they cannot be married and that masturbation is sinful, you create a body of men who are horny and repressed. They probably self-pleasure all the time and they sweep up young boys and girls in their misdirected sexual needs.

I have hope for this guy. Unfortunately I think the dark forces within the vatican will taint his food soon and he will be history.

When any organization with a shred of decency or moral authority wood have had this policy and vigorously enforced it all along. The RCC has been shamed into this by the public exposure and criticism from those that you decry.
