Wiccans are a misunderstood group, they say. Those who consider themselves witches often adhere to Wicca, which was recognized by a 1986 Court of Appeals as a legitimate religion. Even so, several commonly held beliefs about the Wiccan religion are outdated or plain false, say national Wiccan and pagan groups. Here are six misconceptions of witches and Wiccans.

1. Not all who self-identify as Witches or Pagans call themselves Wiccan, nor are they.

The article is a little misleading.

I know it's "only" a label, and some people think labels are unimportant, but words have power.

3. The devil worship fallacy is the most pervasive, I think.

Although I am referring to Pagans in general, not just specifically Wicca.

It's also the most damaging (well, animal sacrifice would be pretty bad too - lol).
