☦ Who is the son of perdition? From Christianity.com

Last edited Sun Sep 13, 2020, 02:13 AM - Edit history (1)

Satan’s offspring comes to deceive and destroy. This title “diagnoses his personality and exposes his awful character” as the “lawless” one for whom there is no depth of wickedness too low. Will be sent to cause “defection from the religion ordained by God;” apostasy. Although Judas was a deceiver, his actions were used to further God’s plans, not to oppose them, and he is not shown to have led others to ruin. Christ’s resurrection leads believers into victory over Satan’s schemes. Judas was free to repent, but the Son of Perdition is a slave to the Serpent’s purposes.

4.“He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie.” [2 Thessalonians c.2 v.9] The Son of Perdition will appear “good,” to the extent that the unwary will be deceived into thinking he is from God or even the second coming of Christ. He will pretend to be religious, but also appear to be “the superman” everyone is desperate for. Many will follow this figure straight to eternal damnation, but everyone has a choice. The bible describes the behavior of one who worships Jesus Christ. Take heed of 1 John c.4 v.1 and “test the Spirits.”

5. Christians glorify God, while Satan’s evil progeny “will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.” [2 Thessalonians 2:4] Jesus glorified and thanked the Father [Matthew 11:25], working in His name [John 3:5], and praying to Him [Matthew 26:36-44]. The Son of Perdition expects “divine homage” for himself. Judas coveted wealth, perhaps a place in the throne room next to a warrior king, but He did not compete for leadership.

6. Christians are unified but the serpent’s son stands alone. Paul’s letter to the Philippian church exhorts them to “striv[e] together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.” [Philippians 1:27-28] Unity offers protection, encouragement against fear, and is an identifying feature. As in nature, where a predator separates individuals from the group in order to weaken and destroy them, Satan wants to isolate believers and lure them towards apostasy.

Even a believer who maintains the faith can become discouraged and lose the peace of the Holy Spirit when he is cut off from the body of Christ. Wayne Jackson points out that the Greek word for temple in Paul’s letters is “naos” which is “used of the Christian’s body [1 Cor. 6:19] or of the church as God’s spiritual house.” Judas was guilty of trying to cut Mary off in a sense, like a villain who pulls a bystander from the crowd to shield himself from his enemy’s bullets. The Son of Perdition will behave likewise, but on a much larger scale. The disciples might have offered Judas a chance at rehabilitation; where he might have become a true believer. He threw away the opportunity to be redeemed.

7. Religiosity is the evil one’s tool. “The implication of Paul’s warning is this. This unholy being is viewed as being a ‘church’ character.” The Son of Perdition will appear to be a man of the law, yet he is the “lawless one” who has “no regard for the law of God.” Judas asked "why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year's wages.” [Matthew 12:5] The appearance of “good” is only a show, but his protests are easily overwhelmed: “‘Leave her alone,’ Jesus replied” [c.12 v.7] and they did.

The Son of Perdition is Restrained – For Now~
God restrains the Son of Perdition for now. “The secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.”
[2 Thessalonians c.2 v.7-8] Satan’s son will emerge, but only until Jesus returns. Satan’s beast might be here now, operating as a smooth politician, a benevolent multi-billionaire, or the pastor of a thousands-strong church preaching attractive lies that deceive the unwary, arrogant, or undiscerning. Judas was not a smooth-talking man of power. He was not destroyed by the breath of Christ but undone by shame. If only he had understood the promise of hope for the believer: “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, […] nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” [Romans 8:38-39]

I keep refraining from telling my crazy relatives, "Thanks a lot for electing the Anti-Christ" if you vote for him again, now you know.

Maybe he isn't "THE" anti-Christ, but I can't think of many who are as "opposite" of Christ and his teachings as Dump is.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world..." The WHOLE world. God doesn't make exceptions and mostly neither do I. Black / White, gay straight, whatever color or religion, I think people are people and deserve to be seen as who they are, not pigeon holed by anyone's bigotry or closed mind.

But when someone dumps children at the border and yet preaches "pro-life" or tries to pass off his "letting" Corona come into US and kill thousands of voters who probably weren't going to vote for him anyway as trying to remain calm and carry on.... When someone is so evil, I can't love that person. I can try to forgive and hope he pulls his head out of his rump and finds true faith, but I doubt it in his case. Even Jesus whooped the money changers in the Temple and took the Pharisees to task once in awhile.

I can pray for the man, just in case he isn't pure evil, but I don't know how God does it. There are some on Earth whose behavior is so foul that to even think to love them makes me feel like I have been puked upon.

and person of Christ.

This is not to say anyone presently is THE anti-Christ.

But all the tragic happenings--the fires, hurricane damage, overt hatred of and harm to other brothers and sisters in humanity, unparelled greed, etc. makes one take notice. Is the the beginning of the end of the age?

I keep thinking that the reason no one knows the day or the time is because we keep getting tasked with booting out the ones trying to bring about the end days and restoring as much of Heaven to Earth as is possible by striving for peace and working for justice.

His constant lies and the gas lighting are exhausting. I don't know how anyone can stand to be in his presence. It seems like your brain would just explode if had an ounce of intelligence.

and struggle daily, nay, hourly to stay on the straight and narrow.

After the gift of salvation, we are granted repentance when we fall short.

I judge them, then repent. It happens much lately.

My mom had a saying if you were offended or hurt by another--"Leave them to Heaven." IOW, don't defile yourself. Leave the judgement to God.

... of God, there go I. We all make mistakes and even fall on our faces sometimes. That is being human.

When people of faith fall off the path and need to get directed back in the way that really makes life worth living, that is part of the process. Even prodigals and rebels without a clue, I get and can forgive.

I can see people turn to addictions and lose themselves and do awful things. Then turn to God and recover.

But just because a person stands in front of a church and waves a Bible while the cameras are running does not make that person a Christian. Again, like a Pharisee who sits in front just to be seen, it takes more to follow Christ than putting money in the plate and smiling to the cameras.

20,000 lies and counting isn't just your typical Christian having a crises of faith. It's either mental illness or on purpose.

What gets me is how many Christians on the reich side of the isle think Trump is the one who has been maligned when people simply tell the truth about what he does.

I love them and forgive them because I know they are being duped and played. Their hearts are in the right place, but they are being targeted with propaganda.

8. I feel strongly that none of what we have presently, seeming to get worse and worse,

can be sustained for long.

Like a dam bursting.

The current joblessness, evictions, schooling arrangements, the still pandemic, financial hardships, etc.

"Fear not!"

Psalm 23~
A psalm of David:

1 The Lord is my shepherd,
I lack nothing.

2 He makes me lie down in green
pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,

3 He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for His name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for You are with me;
Your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6 Surely your goodness and love will
follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever. Amen.

16. Our Tradition of Faith doesn't hold the rule and reign for an exact 1000 years.

Metaphorically speaking, the 1000 years is like forever in the eternal kingdom.

The early church fathers mostly say there will be tribulation on earth before the Parousia, 2nd Coming, the return of Christ to earth at the end of the age of ages. However, scripture says the time will be cut short. Christ Jesus is our merciful Saviour and limits the tribulation because of His Love for His Creation.

Could this be the initial pains of tribulation?
I don't know exactly.
Many signs though.
We were and continue in our ways against Divine Principles.
Really, really shoddy stewards of the only earth He created for us.
Inhumane treatment of one another, warring, bloodshed, greed, list goes on...

Peace be to you and yours. 💙
