Help me find something?

Last edited Mon May 20, 2013, 10:00 PM - Edit history (2)

Actually I've searched high and low for years for DVD versions of the Paulist fathers' classic tv show, "Insight". I loved it because it was so allegorical and sometimes very surreal. Martin Sheen as a young man made quite a few episodes with them. A few years ago they put the series out on video, but I don't have a video player anymore and want a sturdier format anyway. So I do periodic searches myself, of course; yet at this point I'm willing to ask anyone who might stumble across a DVD entire series set to let me know. I don't think I ever enjoyed a tv show so much, not even Mother Angelica and she was a real hoot.

UPDATE: Naturally I did another big search tonight, and now it appears the series might indeed be released on DVD before I die at least. Perhaps if people simply contacted paulistproductions.com directly and stressed their own wish for DVDs of the classic series (not the new one they want to fund) it might do some good. Trust me, the new can never equal the old. How are you going to get Keenan Wynn and Bob Newhart to play God again, and Martin Sheen as Adam about 9 times? What can top that? Nothing! It was a howl with a good lesson sneaked in.

But who has a VCR anymore? I'm behind the times a lot, but at least I bought a tv with a DVD combo so I wouldn't have to hook anything up. Blueray's just too expensive for me to consider.

Anyway, didn't you love the show? There was one episode where a lady thought she was adopting a child, but she got a boy robot delivered to her home instead. I remember so many of the stories, at least portions. And it would be nice if I could leave that treasure to the Catholic Workers when they inherit my house someday. 256 shows! Even from a strictly secular perspective, they were all works of art. The one with Randolph Mantooth as Adam and Keenan Wynn as God split my sides, so funny. Though of course Martin Sheen's work could hardly be matched.

And talk about liberal slants now and then. Once the Trinity was depicted with the Holy Spirit as a black woman. Quite a statement for those days.

BTW, thanks for the video. It's awfully late for me tonight, so I'm going to save it for tomorrow morning. The anticipation will bring sweet dreams after a very stressful day.
