Jeb Bush repeats lies about Vatican embassy

Sigh/ugh.

Bush, widely seen as a top GOP contender for 2016, is the latest to join in criticism of what has been described, in some reports, as a closure of the mission.

However, State Department officials told reporters Monday that the embassy to the Vatican is not closing. Instead, they are moving the mission to a building within the larger U.S. compound in Rome, which also includes two separate buildings that house U.S. Embassy to Italy and the U.S. mission to the U.N. offices in Rome.

The State Department attributed the move to increased security and cost savings of up to $1.4 million a year in lease and operating costs.

Nevertheless, the National Republican Senatorial Committee created a petition this week that say “President Obama plans to close the U.S. Embassy to the Vatican.”

2. As an aside, Jeb Bush is a convert to Roman Catholicism

as of 1995. He was previously an Anglican.

I think he just switched to please his wife. But regardless, that's what you can expect from the GOP - nothing but outright lies piled a mile high.

4. The question would be - did he just accept the first right-wing explanation he read, or

did he go to the core of the situation for a more complete answer. - I'm thinking the former.

As to why he converted- I don't really know; however, it's not at all unusual for persons in a mixed-religion marriage to convert one way or another for unity of religion for their children. Also, the change from Anglicanism to Catholicism is minimal, comparatively.

Sorry if I got overly political in this forum, where I probably shouldn't be. But that was a typically outrageous political act he committed, and it was reported here, so what could I do?
