Fellow Catholics, I ask for your prayers for my BIL!!

Catholics out there.

I just received a call from my 85-year old brother-in-law from the hospital. Seems he took a bad fall and broke his hip and was en-route to the operating room when he called not long ago.

He sounded drugged up and I know he has heart troubles. I told him I'd pray for him (he is Catholic and from Ireland and goes to church every day) and he said thanks.

I really hope he comes out of it ok as I've known him since I was 20 years old, longer than I've known my husband and he is the family patriarch so to speak.

Prayers for my brother-in-law Bob, esp. those directed towards Our Lady of Lourdes!

As for myself, I'll try to hit the early Mass today to light a candle for him and have a word with the priest as well re: this.

Thanks you guys!

I have a slight update. He made it through the surgery and last I heard, he is in recovery and that he seems to be ok but he is in a lot of pain.

I'm thinking back to last week and I was speaking with him and he mentioned dizzy spells from some sort of pills he was taking for his heart condition. I told him not to take them if they were making him sick but I guess he did anyway.

I think he probably fell when he got up during the night and/or early this a.m. I don't really know any more but have written to his family back home but they are all quite old and only one has a computer and email.

So, yes, I think adding Bob to the Prayer Circle will help!

Thanks so much and will update again later if I find out anything more!

Thanks again you guys!!

Fill him with the strength of your Holy Spirit. Keep him firm in faith and serene in hope, so that he may give us all an example of patience and joyfully witness to the power of your love.

Amen.

Take care of yourself, too.

I spoke with him a few hours ago and it turns out it is not a big fracture but a small one luckily. They are hoping it will heal on its own and I believe it will as he is a strong man with a hearty constitution and in very good physical condition for his age.

He said the fall was an accident and that he had an old buddy of his come to visit him yesterday so it seems the word it out I hope. I haven't heard from his family back home in Ireland but will email them again just to let them know that he is ok but he will be in the hospital and in rehab. for quite some time it seems.

He was bummed out more about the fact he'll be down for awhile and he is having quite a bit of pain but, it could have been much much worse.

So I thank all that have been praying for Bob and I'm sure that the prayers to
Little Therese were heard as well as I lit a candle at the Church under her statue being there is but the one there.

Thank you Lord for keeping my dear brother-in-law around. He is needed by so many in his family and has been especially dear to me personally.

Amen!!!

Where I don't know but we haven't heard from him so I suspect he's in a rehab place somewhere. I don't know how long it takes a fracture of the hip to heal but I suspect 6 weeks at least (?).

Thanks for the prayers! That is very kind of you!

Peace be with you my friend!

everyone!!

I spoke with my brother-in-law day before yesterday and he is doing quite well and in good spirits.

He's had many visitors while in the rehab. joint which is not far from where he lives fortunately.

He is healing as the pain is getting less.

I sent some special intentions to him from Our Lady of Lourdes and he was quite pleased to receive them.

Anyway, hopefully he'll be out of the rehab. place soon!

Thanks again everyone!!

Sorry to say (I have not been around much) that things are not so hot with this family!

BIL now having really bad leg/knee pain and can no longer walk and has Meals on Wheels coming to his house being he can no longer stand. He is getting better s l o w l y I'd say.

In the meantime SIL died about 2 weeks ago and a Mass of some sort is being said in mid-July and son of SIL is nowhere to be seen lucky for him (bad situation at best).

Also, just found out that one of the young people that died in the Berkeley balcony collapse is indeed a first cousin to this family as the priest tending to her stopped by my BIL's house the other day to tell him about it and deliver his condolences to the family I suppose.

Anyway, needless to say prayers are still badly needed in this what is beginning to be a more and more tragedy every day scenario as of recent and here I am at 3:00 a.m. typing and should be in bed asleep.

All for now and will post again after I find out anything more re: this very sad situation.

I never had a big family personally and all but one are dead now and I'm sort of glad in hindsight as watching this group go one by one (there were 10 of them at one time) is too much to bear to witness.

Thanks again you guys. Means a lot to me and to this group of my in-laws that are decent folk indeed.
