I'm really proud of my church

Because my wife is a minister there I feel the need to join committees which I really hate. BUT, not only did we secure the local lgbtq center for a talk next weekend, we also are working towards finding a way to help the youth at the border. We are also hoping to sponsor an immigrant family. There is good religion in the world. And I for one am glad we found it.

I'm pestering my Pastor trying to encourage him to grow a prophetic voice. People of faith cannot sit still for this.

It's important that members speak up. They have the ultimate say whether a pastor wants to admit it or not.

We are out there, and we need to claim our faith traditions from perversion of the white evangelicals.

So sick of evangelicals giving everyone else of faith a bad name. But I will say, evangelicals (some at least) are also calling this separation of families out. It's a step I suppose.

As Baptist Churches go, mine is a rather moderate congregation. There are a few (old) fundamentalists and some (old and young) more liberal members. The congregation is increasingly racially diverse - no small thing in southern Arkansas.

The Pastor is young, thinks for himself, and understands the Gospels. I'm just trying to encourage him to grow a spine. For purposes of my encouragement I call it a prophetic voice.

It's the first time I have really felt like the church was doing what it was supposed to (I mean among other churches I have been to). It is refreshing. We are also working on interfaith coalitions to strengthen our service projects which is awesome. We are reaching out to other Christian sects as well as the Muslim and Jewish communities. Strength lies in numbers.
