1. She earned that suspension.

So should have Elizabeth Hasselbeck & Megan McCain been suspended for the words they spoke freely without retribution.

Goldberg is a perfect example of why the Media today is such a failure.
I can name another 10 current media personalities who should go the way of Goldberg.

2. I don't like what she said. They are a private company and have the right to suspend her BUT I

think they shouldn't have done it.

It furthers Black and Jewish tensions. I do agree it makes it look like Jews control the media. The View is a show about discussing topics.

But, being a private company this is not a free speech issue.

As a Jew I don't like what Whoopi said. But, I still wish we could talk about these things and work TOGETHER against hate.

What I feel Whoopi was saying is "My people suffer more than your people" These are painful issues and VERY personal. I also don't want to diminish her pain from being a Black woman.

It's complicated.

Rather than a suspension, it should have been a gateway to a wider conversation about the Holocaust, but also how to discuss historical events without blinding ourselves with modern standards and sensibilities. No matter someone's political affiliation, race (as we now define it), gender, or other factors should be used as an excuse to let people off the hook or, worse, ignore what was said or done.
