My heart is in Bondi.

I follow many Jewish Australians on Instagram. My feed this morning was only sorrow. The Jewish communities in Sydney and Melbourne have been under terrible siege since October 7th. Waking up this morning and reading of the terror attack on Bondi Beach took my breath away and broke my heart. This is another dark moment for the Jewish people. Yet tonight, Jews across the world lit the candles on their Hanukkah Menorahs and said the same blessings their ancestors recited. The Jewish people are resilient on their worst days and on every day that comes after.

Chad Sameach.
Am Yisrael Chai.

Here, we learned of Ellen’s passing, the Bondi Beach massacre and other crimes on the first day of Hanukkah while celebrating their traditions. If this violence doesn’t touch each of us, we have no hope
