High-profile leaders of the popular Womens March movement are refusing to condemn an antisemitic speech Louis Farrakhan delivered last week.
In the audience at last weekends conference was Tamika Mallory, one of the leaders of the Womens March, who got a special shout-out from Farrakhan and who regularly posts laudatory pictures of him on her Instagram account as does Carmen Perez, another leader of the March, the ADL said.
Linda Sarsour, another March organizer, spoke and participated at a Nation of Islam event in 2015. Her most notable response to his incendiary remarks this year was a glowing post on Perezs Facebook page to praise Farrakhans youthful demeanor.
SPEAKING TO thousands of followers, Farrakhan railed against the US Jewish communitys supposed influence over the media, an antisemitic trope that has long been a popular talking point for the black nationalist leader.
In one part of the address, Farrakhan said that the Jews were responsible for all of this filth and degenerate behavior that Hollywood is putting out turning men into women and women into men.
White folks are going down. And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan, by Gods grace, has pulled the cover off of that Satanic Jew and Im here to say your time is up, your world is through, Farrakhan added.

(6,034 posts)I am a male who is a proud feminist.
I fully support equal pay. I fully support choice. I fully support paid family leave. I know Republican want to drag us back to the 1950s when it comes to women.
However none of that makes antisemitism okay. The far left and the far right have several causes in common. One of them is antisemitism.
We should make it clear that Linda Sarsour, and Tamika Mallory are not welcome.

(53,949 posts)For all the talk of "intersectionality", people seem to forget that said intersectionality also is supposed to work for Jewish women. Also, may be there should be a discussion about the "intersectionality" of anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry, as opposed to railing just about racism from the neo-Nazis, let's remember when they marched in Charlottesville, they were chanting "Jews will not replace us." But for FFS, Farrakhan has a long history of sexist and misogynistic spewings, so why are they supporting this clown?! It is also hard to miss the transphobia the hatemonger is peddling. If the shithead "president" made such comments, those women would likely be outraged about the transphobia, and "cry" their crocodile tears about the anti-Semitism, yet when this asshole does it...silence; except Mallory who is playing the "victim".

She is getting LOTS of push back. I am actually surprised. Maybe there are those who do care about anti-Semitism, they just don't seem to flock here in great numbers.

(3,051 posts)People are afraid of alienating blacks by saying what should be said about this vicious and evil man.
Not black but when some asshat gets up and claims to represent the Jewish people I get pretty tired and pissed quickly. I assume they feel the same. Probably wondering why stupid white people are giving a loon like that the time of day.
We need to stop with the discrimination by low expectations and call these asshats and his fellow travelers out.
Intersectionality does not require embracing evil people. It's cowardice.
