Looking at these makes me realize how much I don't know.

My husband has Jewish ancestry that's lost in time. Part of his family denied being Jewish, his father was in his 50's before he started having kids and died when hubby was 14--he was also a veteran of WW2. He spoke German and English, but from what I can tell through cursory research, his family was a group of German Jews that immigrated to Russia before coming to the US. But it seems as though all records are lost, and the elders who might have said, have passed on
