(3,065 posts)the snakebird because of the way his head protrudes out of the water when fishing. They swim underwater to spear fish with their pointed beak.
It is often mistaken for another underwater bird called the cormorant, but the cormorant's beak is curved and it swims with its back protruding from the water when it's on the surface. Only the snakebird's head sticks out of the water when it swims. They're very common in Florida and they can dive as deep as 60 feet when hunting. They are often spotted with their wings spread out like in the picture to dry them out.
