..... as one investigates, it becomes clear that the general "message" of science is:



Things are WAY more complicated than you ever imagined,


and


Things are WAY more interconnected (in mind boggling ways) than you ever imagined.

This is the general take-away from science.

So when someone starts throwing around simple explanations, a red flag should be thrown.

And when someone's explanation get complicated and intricate, it should be looked at carefully.


That's been my experience anyway.
