Epidemiological Classification of Omicron in Denmark, the first 785 cases, with outcomes.

Epidemiological characterisation of the first 785 SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant cases in Denmark, December 2021. Euro Surveill. 2021;26(50):pii=2101146.

This one looks like pretty good news. Of the 785 omicron cases, only 9 required hospitalization, 1 patient went into intensive care, no deaths. Only 7.1% of the Omicron cases took place in boosted patients.

Note that these statistics do not include people who did not get either variant of Covid.

If I am reading it right, (table 2), at least 77 people were not vax-d nor had a previous infection. Pobeka Dec 2021 #2

111 people were not vaxxed
34 people were previously infected.

If all 34 were from the vaxxed category, that leaves 77 unvaxxed with no prior infection. So it could possibly be more than 77...

Though the authors state it's to early to make conclusions about the severity of Omicron, I also take this as good news, especially in combination with the S. Africa experience.

In Seattle (King county, WA), cases have spiked two times as bad in the past 3 days than at anytime in the pandemic. Yet hospitalizations are not trending up. Another couple of days we'll know that answer. The vax rate is very good in King County about 84% have one dose or more, 77% have at least two doses.
