I am visiting St. Augustine this weekend and it's not that far from Cape Canaveral - I wonder if I could see it launch?!?

4. You might see it when it gets up there, but St. Augustine is too far away to see much.

I saw the shuttle take off a couple of times from 14 miles away, it was totally silent at that distance.

This one might be worth driving down for.

5. Yes, I think I should make the drive....

Many years ago (I think 2011?) I threw my three little kids (now adults) in my minivan and drove up to Cape Canaveral to see that last launch of space shuttle Discovery, they still talk about that day!

3. It was really special to see the VAB, empty

Seeing it with a rocket being assembled is really amazing, you see them just moving their eyes up..and up...and up.

There is no way to tell how huge that building is until you are inside it.
