Madam Curie was not Jewish, but using Jewishness as a slur was seen as demeaning her more.

(69,087 posts)3. I have heard people make this assumption as a negative inference.
I have heard people assume that somebody else is Jewish - even when they're not - and make negative inferences as a result. I haven't heard it often but it's shocking. It's similar to when somebody makes a racist comment to another white person, assuming they'll agree.
Fortunately I don't witness this much, but I know it's there.
