The popular media publish many articles speculating about how soon we'll land on Mars, what we'll discover, how long we'll stay, and how much fun we'll have. But here's an article outlining the difficulties and cautioning that we may never get there at all. I suppose we have to forge ahead because the effort will enrich many people and satisfy the Star Trek fantasies of legions of nerds. Personally, I think we'll be too busy trying not to kill ourselves to make the trip.
