but I have to agree with this article.

The part that I think is most significant from what I have seen is

"5. After the second world war, the USA had a massive internal propaganda system designed to attack socialism and the left. Communists were 'atheists', Communists were bad and anti-American, ergo atheists were bad and anti-American."

We have replaced Commies with Muslims as the real threats, but there is still that "anti-American" attitude toward anyone who is not Christian.

Is one of the largest sites I know of with the most variety. If there is an interest, there is a subreddit for it.
I hang there more than anywhere. Its like DU but more and better...the discussions are more varied, the bickering and snark tend to be less than most sites. I am involved in r/politics, r/progressives and a slew of others. Fair warning though, it is a time sucker!
