(18,219 posts)This is now that October poll.
But I loved that one so much too.

(4,031 posts)... and upon reflection, maybe I should have put that in a separate post. Oh well.
But he will show up again ~Jan 2015 for the Meme of the Quarter (I plan on including Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec 2014, since I started in September and that month was truncated).
So the plan is, to take each weekly winner (per ~month) and come up with a monthly winner, then have a poll so we may choose the best of the last 3 monthly winners per quarter, and then once per year, have a Meme of the Year vote (on the four quarterly winners).
At least that is the plan, we'll see if I can keep up.

(4,031 posts)... in how I set up the post...
....Michael this is Bruce, Michael this is Bruce...(but I digress)
I deleted the offending portion of the poll, and will re-post as it should have been.
Apologies, for the confusion, (my name is not Bruce)...

(18,219 posts)The best of the best is hard to pick a favorite. But in the end, I picked Killing the Tree for the simplicity of it.
Almost went with Marcus Aurelius, since that one so perfectly expresses my thoughts, but.....I could only vote for one. Sigh.

That said, Marcus Aurelius never actually said that:[/font]

But to go away from among men, if there are gods, is not a thing to be afraid of, for the gods will not involve thee in evil; but if indeed they do not exist, or if they have no concern about human affairs, what is it to me to live in a universe devoid of gods or devoid of Providence? But Gods there are, undoubtedly, and they regard human affairs; and have put it wholly in our power, that we should not fall into what is truly evil. " from Meditations, Book II, but the quote in question has a quite different meaning.
