What makes people post dishonest assertions about others?

Why do some feel it neccessary to fabricate a problem where none exists? What makes them try and defend their false accusations when the truth is there for all to see? What makes them refuse to support these false allegations and continue their dishonesty?

IOW, what the fuck?

If you're not the oppressed, and you're not doing anything to help those that are, then your inaction is bad.

If you can claim that you are the oppressed, then your inaction towards other oppression is excusable.

and often, of course, a deliberate misunderstanding.

Then of course there's ignorance.

Of course...people are people. It is mind boggling how some seem to not be able to comprehend the written word. Every space between the lines is filled with paragraphs of what you REALLY mean. Sometimes I think they actually do not know the meanings of the words I'm using.... like I'm some kind of post-modernist or something.

(OMG, I used the "d" word! Apologies to anyone I offend.)

If you can ignore facts about religion or science, you can ignore other facts just as easily.

It takes all the fun out of it for a few people if they don't have something to be upset about.

It is no big deal. At the point where the accusation has been transformed into "the use of the rhetoric of belief to advance progressive causes is an abuse" the accuser is so far down a pit of his own construction that any irritation has melted into pity.

and not a fucking SINGLE link to a DU atheist actually saying/believing any of it.

That's what passes for a "great post" from a believer. That's the hatred and bigotry we are up against.

And I'm being completely honest here. I thought there was a real opportunity with that thread. If just *one* member of the alleged civility brigade could have pointed out that it was an unfair characterization of atheists on DU and was not conducive to discussion, there maybe could have been an attempt at a cease fire.

But not a single fucking one did. So fuck it, I'm still all in.
