How many times have I heard "I'll pray for you"......instead of what can I do for you, do you need something from the store, would it help if I sat with you tonight, or a million other things that would actually make that person DO something to help.

I had a seriously life threatening illness (2 of them actually) and went in the hospital on Thanksgiving night. Stayed 8 days in ICU. And this was 350 miles from home in another state. A lot of people have said they were praying for me, and I thanked them. I don't want to insult them, because they are saying they give a damn.

I'm not gonna argue with them even though I don't indulge in prayer.

I'm a Unitarian, the joke goes, we pray "To Whom it May Concern"
