Last night, Cory Godbolt allegedly killed 8 people in a shooting spree, including a sheriff’s deputy. The motive is unclear as of this writing.

But when he was arrested this morning, Godbolt confessed to the crime and told the Clarion-Ledger‘s Therese Apel that God will eventually forgive him.

… My intentions was to have God kill me. I ran out of bullets… Suicide by cop was my intention.

I ain’t fit to live. Not after what I’ve done. Not in y’all eyes and not in nobody else eyes.

But God, you know, he forgives you for everything.

Great… Eight people are dead, but the suspect isn’t too worried because God will forgive him.

It’s a damn good thing we have a criminal justice system, since divine justice often leaves so much to be desired.

I believe in seeing crimes punished here on earth not in any hell or any 'forgiveness' for such heinous crimes.

All the criminal has to do is ask for forgiveness before they die and poof - they're in heaven.

How are the victims supposed to feel about having to share an afterlife with their rapist, torturer, the person who murdered their child, etc?
