I'm from Rhode Island so I've been experiencing this since day one. People tend to forget that despite RI's reputation as a "blue state", the state is fairly conservative (I'd go so far as to say it is the most socially conservative state in New England) and heavily Catholic. I half-joke about how the Vatican owns our state government.
Also, during the whole "flowergate" incident, it was my cousin's store who ended up delivering the flowers. =)
