There are some theists out there that is determined to make Atheists say that Atheism is a religion.

They keep pushing it to ridiculous levels.

They are all over Facebook and Twitter.
Many atheist pages have made their pages where you have to ask to join. Some has sent me invitations to join sense they see I am one from seeing my posts on other pages.

But some theists find ways in. And they demand that Atheists admit it's a religion.

Same thing on Twitter. They tweet on stuff from Aron Ra or Jimmy Snow and others demanding the same thing.

Have there been a push like this before or is it a new thing?

... and the like. Why would I? It's my individual conclusion, and I don't need to belong to a group of similar-thinking individuals for some kind of group-thinking "validation" of it.

It's why I felt dumbfounded after I asked some questions about a religious group here, especially after someone wrote a reply to me along the lines of, "How would you feel if we made inquiries about atheists?" Uh, I wouldn't care!

I suggest to not play their game. They're most likely right-wing authoritarians who identify themselves with their group more than relying upon their own reasoning abilities, and they desire to identify everyone else similarly to themselves in that regard. They love "us vs. them" group dynamics.

To keep theists from thinking about the contradictions of their silly religions.

I've heard them try to say things like all atheist think this or that, so therefore atheism is a religion. But atheist, aside from not believing the burden of proof for a god has been met, have no other shared beliefs like religions do. No belief in superstitious nonsense and magical ceremonies to chant their myths and spells.

No agreement on anything really except for: there is no real evidence for any god.

Yeah, I've listened to Christian Apologists claim atheism is a religion but their arguments are weak and easily disproved. But I've seen this apologetic argument ever since I realized I was an atheist about 5 years ago. I don't think it has gotten any worse.

But I have noticed atheist are more likely to stand up and defend themselves more recently. Since Christian Apologists are not use to push back, they have gotten a bit more organized in their attacks on atheists.
