There was no alert on the thread. One of the hosts started a thread in the Hosts forum and said they wanted to lock it and got some agreement from other hosts.

Religious-oriented posts aren't allowed in GD unless it's a major news story per forum SoP:

Discuss politics, issues, and current events. No posts about Israel/Palestine, religion, guns, showbiz, or sports unless there is really big news. No conspiracy theories. No whining about DU.

The whole point of R/T and Religion is to keep posts related to religion out of GD.
