Flat-Earther tries to use medical condition to wiggle out of having to wear a mask inside store.

https://sfist.com/2020/05/18/socal-flat-earther-becomes-internets-enemy-after-filming-mask-wearing-argument-at-grocery-store/

The incident happened at a Gelson's supermarket in Dana Point, in Orange County, and the woman in question — widely referred to as "Karen" on social media now — is named Shelley Lewis. The video was posted Sunday on Lewis's own Facebook account — since removed — and went viral on Twitter and elsewhere. You can watch below, and hear her indignation and staunch argument that she suffers a medical condition that prevents her from wearing a mask, and that she needs to purchase private items that she doesn't want others picking out for her.

"Can we shop for you?" offers the manager. But oh no, Lewis claims that she's being discriminated against, and she also refuses to let any stranger handle her credit card. Gelson's, she shouted, is "going to get a lawsuit." She remains, standing outside, refusing to let anyone see her "private credit card information," and telling an innocent employee, "I'm glad you guys think it's okay to be infringing on people's rights here."

Shelley Lewis is a passionate truther, a licensed holistic health practitioner, a certified lymphologist, a vegan chef, photographer, and co-director and co-producer of The Plane Truth Documentary. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where she entertained hopes of becoming an AstroNOT.

Shelley served in the Army for 5 years where she jumped out of airplanes and became a paratrooper. She began her long quest for answers after being honorably discharged from the Military with a medical condition: Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease (Lupus). Through many years of studying and research, she found help through a vegan diet, lifestyle changes, and alternative medicine.

After the documentary "Behind the Curve" wrecked the credibility of Flat-Earth-researchers, Shelley Lewis and a fellow Flat-Earther and film-maker going by the internet-handle JM Truth planned their own documentary "The Plane Truth" about how Earth is flat. The project died when JM Truth stole high-end camera-equipment and Shelley Lewis ended the cooperation.

JM Truth is btw, a very special individual:

* a self-proclaimed scientist whose education was a course on optics and film-making

* a self-proclaimed medical expert who can cure any disease and is also a diabetic

* a self-proclaimed special-effects expert who claimed during a debate that a certain rocket-launch video is CGI and who was taken really, really badly to the woodshed when the other side brought an actual Emmy-Award-winning special-effects expert as expert witness

* a self-proclaimed religious and moral person who steals camera-equipment, who lies about the origin of video-clips, who claimed that a certain rocket-launch video must be fake because the footage has a 20-second-mismatch, only to refuse to apologize when shown that this 20-second-mismatch doesn't exist

I wonder how many stores have a supply, on hand.

they wear those clear plastic face shields that fit on their foreheads and go down to their chins.

Perhaps the greeters can give their masks a spritz of Windex (tm) before they go in.

She's hilarious. Does she think the store has things stocked that only she knows about?

I watched the flat earthers vs scientists video in the link. It's frightening that people can be so damned stupid.

Thousands of years ago, some Greek scientists did an experiment using lighthouse beams to not only show the roundness of the Earth but also to calculate its approximate circumference with astounding accuracy, given the simple technology they had available. There is this one little modern Flat-Earth group of "scientists" who purported to use an updated version of this experiment to "prove" the exact opposite. I especially love the little sequence in which one modern "scientist" talks via a cell phone connection to another "scientist" and says, "Lift your light higher. The beam is not landing where it should land."

...but fuck "radical empathy" if it means being so sweetly tolerant of such bullshit.
