(86,602 posts)More expected in the central part of the state.

(86,602 posts)Entire herds of cattle, and calving has been going on for weeks. All those animals will need shelter and half the ranchers don't have such amenities for their huge herds. Campers and adventurers are already hitting the trails. Could get messy.

(86,602 posts)I'm fine, I've lived at much higher elevations for a long time and I have good shelter right now. I'll just stay home and warm in my little cubbyhole while all that's going on. If I were still in the mountains, I wouldn't even be concerned but it's damned near summer where I am now and people have left the winter concerns behind them and that is where it can get dangerous.

(23,314 posts)the annuals I bought on Sunday or put them inside. I think Ill bring them in and wait for this shit show to be over. Our lows on this side of the divide will dip into the 30s...I dont know if itll snow or not but these are the types of storms that will not bode well for the out of staters who have ventured into the back country already. These are the storms that kill people who are not prepared. I dont know about your neck of the woods, 2na, but we are over run with folks from not Montana....its alarming.

(86,602 posts)people thinking this is great that nobody is hitting the backcountry yet... this is why. Plus spring runoff has begun so the river is up a couple feet every day from the day before. More rain and snow will bring the possibility of flooding.
I just built a flower bed out back and planted seeds only to come in later in the day to see the warnings. At least most things I planted were seeds not expected to sprout for a few days yet. Wasn't thrilled to hear this but it's coming.
This is the kind of storm that kills cattle out on the range, there's more than 6" expected out on the flats. Most don't put cattle out in these parts until June but some already are and calving is still going on.
Guess I'll catch up on indoor stuff since it looks like I'll have to move in a few months, landlady is selling the place, the way the market is right now, it will sell the same day it's listed.

(23,314 posts)Thats stressful. Anything that hits the market here in western MT is basically an auction because there are dozens of offers coming in simultaneously. I know two people personally who have gotten more than $100k more than their asking price for average homes. Its ridiculous and it isnt going to stop anytime soon.
I hope the weather people are wrong about this storm.

(86,602 posts)But I am going to see about a little place up in town that might suffice until I can figure out a better plan. I have parameters to meet in my housing choices. I hate apartments and living in close areas, I would rather have a view of some sort. We'll see. I'll go get on the waiting list tomorrow.
I hope the storm isn't as bad as expected.
