1. Last night, had a big lightning display in the foothills/valley.
Fortunately, I don't think it caused any fires, seemed entirely cloud-to-cloud.
Not a drop of rain though. In the fall and winter, 34% chance of rain means that it rains 34% of the time. Apparently, there was some water yesterday at very high elevations. snap of webcam, courtesy of Yosemite Conservancy https://yosemite.org/ snap: ![]() P.S. This is a "once in seven years" catch, maybe more. Loving it. |

4. I don't know if "heat lightning". It was bizzarely windy most of the day.
When the day's clouds cleared, it got hot. They seemed to moderate the solar heating on the house (and me)
I couldn't get off a good shot of the lightning, but it was a band of clouds towards the valley, while the stars were clear as could be above me. Not a meteorologist! (IANAM?) I just remember from fly-fishing. Put down those graphite fishing rods when the weather turns!! Love the image capture. Must be rare as all get-out. And to your other point: ![]() |
