Uh, Hi..Im an introvert and alone a hell of a lot, especially at holidays
And school breaks.... I should have come by here a long time ago, but it’s usually too much effort to talk. ba Ha.
I’m a hermit but sometimes I can’t pull out of isolating, and then it’s too much of a good thing.

2. I'm 80% loner, but I don't really mind
I can do what I like, when I like & how I like.

3. I rarely say hello
Hello! I'm a fellow teacher home alone on break. I like it. But, yes, I do have to force myself out of isolation during summers.

5. My job makes me be an extrovert.
And I don't mind it. I get to play this person that I cant be in my real life for some reason lol. But when I get home its full on introvert.

7. Hi there! Semi-retired teacher here.
I am more of an introvert than I thought. If I don't have some 'alone time' each day, I go nutz!!

8. Hi BlancheSplanchnik
Isolation is warm and cozy. It's a blanket of safety and serenity until BAM, you look around and think "where is everyone?". Know that you're really not alone. There are a bunch of us who like being by ourselves, but it's in our nature to be social creatures. I'm glad I found you here. Hope you have a wonderful day full of contentment and comfort!

9. Hi backtoblue, thanks for the reply!
Yep, I love my solitude until I realize I’m in emotional pain from isolating for too long.
I’m glad you found me too! ![]() |

11. me too. exactly! there is an amount of solitude that
I find refreshing and nourishing.
If I am in too many social situations-- my skull starts to crawl and I have to rejuvinate with time alone - esp. time alone in nature. but then again, too much alone time causes me to start to think 'what is wrong with me", 'where is everybody', 'nobody wants to be with me', etc... I particularly do not like week-ends!! and Holidays! altho Labor Day this year, I will be doing a yoga practice with a group of people in an emotional support group. So am looking forward to that. I went to a park on a Saturday and felt depressed cuz it seemed like everyone was there with someone. Altho on a week-day, I don't mind - even prefer - being alone. |

10. I often find a lot of people I don't want to be around, so I tend to visit DU and also come here.
I think the society today has forced me to be somewhat a loner, although I can be quite outgoing at times. I'm a scientific type, so I often think a lot by myself. I hate to sound arrogant, but I find a lot of people in the world hollow today, and so hateful and mean to each other. Could be I just see too many republicans. ... but look at all of the wars and building all kinds of stuff to kill each other off the face of the earth. Is that crazy or what. What is wrong with people!
I think the asshole count has gone up in the US over the years. I heard a DJ say that once, and it's stuck with me as a nice summary of how sometimes I feel. You'll never be alone on DU, there are some incredibly great people on DU and loving and kind, and they are intelligent. |
