I've always loved being alone and wondered if there was something "wrong" with me. It's good to know that there's probably not, lol.

(103,806 posts)A long time ago. Much like having an "outside voice" and an "indoor voice" introverts maintain a public persona and are only themselves when alone, at home.

(10,314 posts)with that need to recharge by being alone. I'm learning that there's a lot more people just like us than I ever thought probably unsung as a result of some societal or culture pressure to avoid being seen as another "odd loner". Another benefit of getting older: Who cares?
I've been calling it "going to church" when I take off for some time out in the desert or up in the hills while being thankful that my handful of close friends and especially my wife somehow get it and can allow me that space.
Recharge baby!
