(6,027 posts)I'm such a loner that this is my first post here, although I read the Loners Group all the time. I'm at home. Where else would I be? I did have a glass of wine and take the garbage out, picking up loose trash, enduring the casual chatter of my neighbors.

(6,151 posts)Actually I spend a great deal of time in the BOG and Pets plus a few others. But much as I like the people here, they can be kinda hard to find.
Today the weather was good and I got outdoors a lot to work and play with the dogs, but haven't spoken directly with another live person all day. Which is okay, because most of them make my hair hurt. Basically I love people, even in real life - I just prefer my own company in real time most of the time, although I now have one nice friend on the other block. It's very convenient, too; she's getting to where she can't drive and I decided long ago not to maintain a car. Luckily we get along quite well. But even so close, we can go a couple weeks w/o speaking.
Of course a lot of 'normals' don't understand, and my post here could easily sound antisocial or egotistical. Don't mean it that way. Not at all. But although it's sad to say, most of the locals have no idea how boring they are, partly because any other progressives who might be out there keep hunkered down for safety. If you lived here, you'd know what I mean.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
