Panel takes on triple shot of booze bills
PIERRE — Lawmakers in the House Commerce and Energy Committee got the booze talk started early Friday when they approved a trio of alcohol-related proposals.
The committee opted to advance bills that would give shoppers access to more drink samples, outlaw powdered alcohol and green light liquor store's ability to deliver.
Here's a look at the bills that head now to the House of Representatives:
Booze samples
Senate Bill 68 would allow grocers, breweries, liquor stores and other licensed providers to offer more than three samples of alcoholic beverages. Supporters said expanding the threshold to allow for more samples would ensure providers don't run out of the drinks and could allow for a broader array of booze samples.
No one stood to oppose the bill and it passed unanimously.
