Sioux Falls woman sentenced to prison, ordered to repay over $1M for Furniture Mart embezzlement

A Sioux Falls woman was sentenced Wednesday to spend years in prison and repay more than $1 million she pleaded guilty to embezzling from Furniture Mart over the course of six years.

Kristi Lynn Burrow, 47, pleaded guilty to aggravated grand theft in August, and was sentenced to spend nine years in state prison. She was also ordered to pay over $1.1 million in restitution.

Burrow was accused of embezzling money from Furniture Mart in Sioux Falls from about 2011 to 2017, according to court documents. She had been an employee for about 15 years and was an accounting associate since 2008.

Burrow was also the accounting associate for another business in the building, Priority Sales, a business that provides a financing option to buy furniture. Burrow had access to each business' deposit bags.
