South Dakota's GOP Gov: Students 'Will Definitely Be In The Classroom" This Fall

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) said students “definitely” will be returning in the fall for live classes, according to the Hill.

• This comes as the nation debates sending students back to school amid the pandemic. “Well, for us, our kids are going back to school on time,” she said on Fox & Friends. “They will definitely be in the classroom.”
• She reiterated that the risk of transmitting coronavirus among students is very low and said “that accommodations will be made for teachers who are older or have preexisting medical conditions.”

“We have proven that distance learning is not as effective as being in the classroom. We think that kids have only achieved about 70 percent of the learning that they could have, had they been in school,” she said.

“And then also, we have a lot of kids that don’t have a stable home environment. They don’t have parents that are really being responsible to make sure that they're learning. Those are the kids that are getting hurt the most. And in South Dakota, in some districts, it's up to 30 percent of the children.

1. I always thought the right wing liked home schooling so they could focus on religious studies?

All of the sudden, they want to bring their kids to public school?

3. As I said about Iowa...

Once the economy starts to tank because of the massive reinfection rate in SD and Iowa, both Covid Kim and Krazy Kristi need to be held accountable. Manufacturing is struggling with Covid and a leader in unemployment claims in the Iowa.

4. Idiots. Amazing that they came up with that "we've proven that distance learning is not" ...

as effective" upon what, 1 study and 1 event? This hardly merits being used as the case study for pushing kids into schools prematurely , and potentially into harms' way. And how they did measure the 70% of the learning outside vs. in the classroom? How did they measure and/or come up w/ the stable home environment criteria and parents to ensure that the kids are learning etc.?

Something tells me that this is a crock full of fake numbers someone whipped together to justify this whole effect in the SD cause (and we'll see being used in other states too), so parents be very aware, you don't know where these numbers came from, etc., how many studies were cited, etc.

7. Four questions: Is it safe? Are your children/gchildren going?

Four questions: Is it safe? Are your children/gchildren going?

Do you waive legal immunity for yourselves?

Will you cover COVID medical expenses for the children and school employees?
