Buddhism and The Matrix
Yes, the movie is now rather dated concerning online discussions, yet it does lend itself well to modern speculations and even by potential relationships to the dharma.
It might be fun and fruitful to spring off the board that the philosophy of The Matrix has provided for the West. As many are aware, it has been used as a tool in philosophy classes to stimulate and provoke contemporary thinking amongst students. For me, the movie relates some provocative relationships to Buddhist thought, intentionally or unintentionally.
The French philosopher, Baudrillard and his book, Simulacra and Simulation was an underlying inspiration for the movie. Though his work was part of the framework of the story, a plethora of concepts were presented and explored in the film.
