(19,676 posts)I was fortunate to celebrate the Lantern/Moon festival in China for 4 years. Beautiful moon cakes. Is there a traditional food for this holiday in Korea?
A traditional Chuseok table is described in the latter half of second video. Songpyeon, the half moon rice cakes are typical Chuseok fare. I see they have chestnuts as well that would be roasted. (This is a traditional treat from before the age of candy in Korea). The favorite fruits of Koreans, large pears, persimmons, pine nuts. For veggies gosari (ferns), spinach, gobo, (a root). I see they have dried mackerel on the table. For the main course after the ancestral ceremony, meat dishes, and soups. The soups are according to local taste. One is Doranguk. Fish jeon, a kind of grilled fish fillet. Of course, there would be various pickled veggies, starting with kimchi, and bindaetuk, Korean pancakes with a bean based flour and veggies.
I checked all this with my local source, Ms. So.
