When the news of Pearl Harbor broke, my father was out fishing with a Japanese friend. As they were walking home people were screaming profanity at them. Shortly after, - my father joined the Coast Guard and never saw any action fortunately. After the war he liked visiting Japan and made some good friends who used to visit my family when they were in the states. This is one of the many reasons I have a boatload of respect for that man.
