Some things never change
I live in Japan (6 years), prior Korea (20). I know this woman who got admitted to university in the USA in 2017 and she went. She's Japanese. In 2019, she was in a store and a man told her "Go back to China" She told the man she is Japanese. He told her he could tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese. She showed her student ID card and he accused her of having changed her name
The thing ended when two men walked up and told the guy to shut up and leave her alone. He left.
I mentioned her story because it kind of matched his experience in New York in 2016
