But imagine you had to do calculations using Roman numerals.

For example, if you want to say 1/3 in English, it only takes two syllables. In Korean, it takes 4.
Not sure about other Asian countries, but here in Korea pretty much everybody takes Calculus in high school. I don't think it's possible to make a decent score on the university entrance exam without it.
