I had a beer-and-wine drinking dad, whom I never saw drunk. With that kind of model for alcoholic consumption, it shoukld be no wonder that I kept my experience with soju to a minimum. By the way, to me it tasted terrible, but your mileage may vary.
One day the commanding officer read an announcement to the morning formation warning us some bad soju circulating in the local GI bars. "Remember, the greater part of soju is formaldehyde," he said in conclusion. "So if you die drinking that stuff, you're already embalmed."
I don't know where the captain got the idea that soju is made from formaldehyde. At the same time, I never disputed it.
