(45,090 posts)2. People make the mistake of trying to use Regular rice,
which does not stick together, but you need a sticky rice, so JAPANESE RICE or Sushi rice is best to use. Nishiki, Botan Calrose Rice, or Kokuho Rose Rice is best to purchase. Its a Japanese rice grown in California. You can buy this rice from Amazon if you live some where in the Midwest and don't have access to JAPANESE RICE.

... and it's handling is everything. My sushi knife is the sharpest in the drawer, my wife won't even touch it.
I've been fascinated by rice balls since I first saw Seven Samuri many years ago. Now I have no excuse but to make them. Thanks for the spark!
