2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI watched a live stream of Bernie's Birmingham Rally tonight and have a few thoughts to share:
No other candidate has the depth and breadth of wisdom that exists within the soul of Bernie. Bernie campaigns on a "future to believe in." You can FEEL the PASSION, feel the LOVE, and FEEL the CONCERN he has for his fellow Americans. That's not something that can be faked, at least for very long. When someone is speaking from their heart -- you know it -- you feel it because it resonates in your soul. Bernie has a powerful, unifying VISION for America -- for his fellow human beings. He's a TRUE VISIONARY -- a REAL LEADER. someone we can trust and believe in. What does Hillary preach? More of the same. I'm sorry to say that at times she seems nothing more than just another player in poorly acted political Kabuki theater.
Bernie Sanders is the real deal. Make no mistake about it. Bernie has no need to posture. He sees the truth and he speaks it. He asks us to "think BIG, not small." The status quo teaches to not expect much. Hillary relegates us to mediocrity by encouraging us to think small... to be "reasonable." There is NO reason why we can't achieve our important, lofty goals TOGETHER. Bernie urges us NOT to vote against our own interests!!! If we work together, there is NOTHING we cannot accomplish. WE CAN AND WILL DO IT!!!
In the words of the great Winston Churchill: "Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, neverin nothing, great or small, large or pettynever give in except to convictions of honor and good sense."
REMEMBER THIS: Those that say it cant be done should get out of the way of those doing it GO BERNIE!!

and Bernie's message is definitely a positive one. As you say Hillary's message is more of the same. If on one hand you are doing good in this economy then Hillary will be a good bet for you but if you aren't then its Bernie all the way. Most of us aren't doing well enough to embrace more of the same when our choices is Hillary or the Clown Car. My choice is Bernie Sanders and the positiveness he brings to the table. Bernie Sanders has a Vision for our country and it's a positive one.

Thank you so much for posting.

(5,889 posts)of his detractors is that he won't get things through a Republican Congress. And Hillary can?! If there is someone they hate more than Obama, it is Hillary! And how did Obama fair with those knuckle heads. The only thing she'll pass is Republican handouts to the rich, which she'll do in an attempt to have them do her a solid by passing a progressive bill.
At least they don't hate Bernie enough to be spiteful, from what I can tell. Yes, they loathe his ideas, but ideas can be discussed and argued; their hatred of Hillary is irrational and irreversible.

(5,889 posts)a Bloomberg clip here where it showed a young lady from South America who traveled here to work on his campaign. Not even sure she was even being paid. eom

(22,271 posts)I saw that and I can tell you she wasn't being paid. Bernie pays his campaign staff and his interns but the vast majority are volunteers like you and me who will get paid when he wins the nomination and the election. Hillary Goldman-Sachs Clinton DOESN'T pay her interns even though she's raking in millions from corporate interests.

(7,419 posts)The GOP and Sec Clinton share that title. And now we're to believe she can work with her self avowed Enemy Number One and that the GOP will welcome the bipartisanship of their Enemy Number One on economic and social issues. They'll only cooperate of weakening those and strengthening Corporate Welfare through TPP and other deals.

(5,217 posts)why they should not be attempted. I am sick of the excuses. Try for it. Fight for it. Work for it. Get off your ass and try, or STFU and admit you are really playing for the other team.

(1,429 posts)Repeal of Glass-Steagol, so-called Welfare change. He didn't have what it took to stand his ground and veto the shit. Yeah, yeah, the Rethugs would have passed it anyway, but at least he would've stood up for something. C'mon, the guy couldn't even own up to a bj, fer crying out loud. She is just echoing the same attitude.

The memo is about to go out the window. At SC focus group during debate which included 14 blacks many said Bernie was connecting
with them, and Clinton wasn't.Her attacks on Bernie's health care plan fell flat.

(23,730 posts)for their safety at Sanders rallies?
Sanders doesn't have the need to appeal to group X or Y by isolating them from another: it's almost like what he says to Y he can also say to X, without having to firewall his constituencies from one another to keep them from comparing notes
